Important nuggets of information you need to know pre-wax

Before Your Wax

  • Hair should be a minimum of 1/4 inch, but a bit longer will give a better result. 

  • ​​Double check that you don't have any contraindications - full list below.

  • ​​Limit sun exposure 24 hours before and after your wax, including tanning beds.

  • ​​Exfoliate 24-48 hours before your wax.

  • ​​Feel free to take ibuprofen 30-60 minutes prior to your wax to reduce potential pain.

  • ​​Stay hydrated. Your skin will thank you.​​​​

  • ​​Please avoid the use of heavy oils, lotions, makeup, deodorants, etc. on whatever area we are waxing that day, if possible.​​​​

Contraindications

We are unable to wax if any of the following apply to you.

In the 2 weeks prior to your wax:​

  • Used products containing Retinol/Retin-A, Tretinoin, or Vitamin A

  • Taken oral or used topical acne treatment products, antibiotics, or steroids

  • Received chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatments

the no-fly list:

  • If you are currently using Accutane
    *must be completely off Accutane for a minimum of 6 months before waxing again*

  • You have sunburned skin or prolonged sun exposure (including tanning beds) on the day of waxing

  • You have had laser skin resurfacing treatments of any kind within the last year​​

  • You have open, abraded, or irritated skin in the area to be waxed - including fresh tattoos and piercings

  • You have recent or healing scar tissue
